Sustainable development: limited natural resources?

Sustainable development

The concept of sustainable development was proposed by the United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development in the Brundland report as:

“A development that meets the needs of the present generation, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”

Because sustainability is a paradigm for thinking about a future where environmental, social and economic considerations must be balanced in the search for a better quality of life; The concept of sustainable development is based on three fundamental elements that must be considered: environmental, economic, and social.

He sustainable development It is presented as a necessity based on the fact that the human being lives in a planet with limited natural resources and therefore susceptible to exhaustion. Furthermore, the growing economic activity with no other criterion than profit at all costs, both on a local and global scale, produces serious environmental problems that may even be irreversible.

The limitation of natural resources gives rise to 3 rules in relation to sustainable development:
+ No resource should be used at a faster rate than its generation to ensure that it is renewable.
+ No pollutant should be produced at a rate greater than it can be recycled, neutralized or absorbed by the environment.
+ No non-renewable resource should be used faster than necessary to replace it with a renewable resource used in a sustainable manner.

To try to mitigate these risks, we must consider them ecological, economic and social level, since everything in the world is interrelated.

All the decisions and actions we take have a direct or indirect impact on the environment.

From Luis Gil We encourage you to lead a sustainable life and opt for sustainable development.
