New organic oil “La Merendola”

Our new organic extra virgin olive oil “La Merendola” is now available, made with Arbequina variety olives grown on our organic farm “El Encinar de Ocón” in the heart of the World Biosphere Reserve.

“La Merendola” is a raw or unfiltered oil made from Arbequina olives, harvested at the beginning of last November and cold-milled to extract the full potential of the fruit. It is an oil of the highest category, with the classification of extra virgin olive oil and also 100% organic.

“La Merendola” EVOO, which now joins our offer of organic sausages and meats, follows the house's philosophy of producing only 100% natural products, without additives, authentic, with all the flavor, healthy and also environmentally friendly. environment.

The production process, without any type of transformation or manipulation, has resulted in a fresh, dense and pleasantly fatty oil, with intense aromas of tomato and grass, very fruity. In the mouth it is sweet, with a slight bitterness, a very subtle acidity and a slightly spicy aftertaste.

With a high oleic acid content, it can be considered an extra green EVOO, perfect to enjoy raw, as a condiment for sauces and with foods cooked at low temperatures.

The “El Encinar” farm

“El Encinar de Ocón” is an ecological farm of almost 100 hectares of scrubland covered with holm oaks and oaks, for the most part, and where the 9 hectares of olive trees from which we extract the organic EVOO “La Merendola” are located. It is located at 800 meters above sea level in the Ocón Valley, in La Rioja, in a privileged environment, with a rich historical, cultural and archaeological heritage declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

An enviable home for the olive trees and also for our 100% Duroc breed pigs that live peacefully and grow at a slow pace, with an organic diet composed of acorns, roots and grasses that they find on the farm and complemented with organic cereal feed, cultivated and transformed into the farm itself.
