This Sunday the 'Field Awards' were announced, an initiative organized by Diario La Rioja and Caixabank that seeks to recognize the work of men and women, also from companies and institutions, who work in the primary sector, and who are responsible for that the tables and pantries are stocked but they rarely monopolize the informative spotlight.
Ocón, November 15, 2021/ Delia Gil, owner of Embutidos Luis Gil with her father Luis and her sister Rosa, has been the winner, among all the candidates, of the 'Woman Entrepreneurship' award. This award recognizes and makes visible the work of women and their contribution to the rural environment, both in their version of driving any type of activity related to the countryside, and for the defense of women in that environment.
“For me it is an honor to have received this recognition. First as a member of a family that has always been linked to the primary sector, also betting on an ecological production model with which we seek to produce a product of the highest quality with a responsible approach, which combines animal welfare and sustainable development of the environment. rural. And second as a woman. There are not many entrepreneurs in rural areas, although fortunately there are more and more, and this type of recognition allows us to have more visibility and our contribution to the primary sector is valued,” says Delia.
“A sector that, by the way, deserves that producers receive a fair price for our products,” he claims. For Delia, the most complicated thing about being a woman in the rural world has been “having to fight against prejudices and archaic views in such a masculinized, aged and traditional environment.”
