Sausages Luis Gil national award “Biosphere Reserve”

Embutidos Luis Gil has been awarded in the II Biosphere Reserve Recognitions for "its contribution and promotion of traditional gastronomy, population establishment in the territory, economic wealth, employment and synergies with other projects."

The Spanish Network of Biosphere Reserves has recognized in the category “Sustainable Economic and Social Development” the environmental commitment of our ecological livestock project, unique in Spain, which covers the entire process of raising our piglets and the preparation of their own organic food on our farm 'El Encinar' in the Ocón Valley, in the Biosphere Reserve of the Leza, Jubera, Cidacos and Alhama valleys.

Without a doubt great news to say goodbye to this year” comments Delia Gil.

From the family we do not want to miss this opportunity to thank Lourdes, Acho, Nacho, Carmina and Antonio, who work with us at Embutidos Luis Gil and Andrés, Ángel and Pablo, who take care of the piglets in 'El Encinar' for their effort and his dedication. It is undoubtedly great teamwork that makes this project possible.

The awards promoted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge through the Spanish Network of Biosphere Reserves have recognized a total of seven other organizations out of a total of 49 candidates.

Along with Embutidos Luis Gil, the Ecotouristing project of the Macizo de Anaga Biosphere Reserve in Tenerife has also been awarded in the category of “Sustainable Economic and Social Development”.

These recognitions are intended to promote and value entities or people that collaborate in the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage of these spaces and their socioeconomic development.
