Yesterday we received the national award 'Biosphere Reserve' in the category of 'Social and Sustainable Economic Development' for the environmental commitment of our ecological livestock project, unique in Spain.
Delia Gil collected this recognition on behalf of the entire Gil family, which was presented by Álex Dorado Nájera, Minister of Sustainability, Ecological Transition and Spokesperson for the Government of La Rioja. The award ceremony took place within the framework of the Conference on 'Sustainable Mobility for the Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change in Spanish Biosphere Reserves', organized by UNESCO and Volkswagen, which are held in Cervera del Río Alhama, before the presence of María Rosa Cárdenas, responsible for the UNESCO for the program on man and the biosphere (MaB) and Francisco Campos, head of the Autonomous Body of National Parks.
Campos has highlighted the importance of the Luis Gil Sausages project for the Biosphere of the Leza, Jubera, Cidacos and Alhama valleys, which also includes a part of the Ocón Valley where our ecological livestock project is located. A project that complies, he said, with the strategic axes of sustainable social and economic development and promotion of biodiversity, and for that reason it has been rightly recognized along with seven other initiatives among more than 80 candidates from all over the country.
